Context

For the first edition of Janken op maandag, a zine by Stichting Het Lichthuis, I created two paintings based on the theme Blue Monday. The works (40 x 50 cm) are painted entirely in ultramarine and explore the feeling of insecurity—feeling too small or too big in a given situation, and how context can put that into perspective. After painting, I scanned and edited the pieces to be risoprinted in blue. The zine is a collaboration of 16 creators, each exploring the melancholy of Monday in their own way.
